More good news for children! |
Finally, a win for children! Tommy Altman as a plaintiff and his Attorney Tim Anderson, filed a suit in court against two obscene books being distributed in Virginia Beach schools to minors. VA has a law that specifies the process to challenge obscene materials in court. A judge found cause for the books to be deemed obscene and a temporary restraining order has been requested against the Virginia Beach School Board to immediately remove these two pornographic books, Gender Queer and A Court of Mist and Fury, from being distributed to minors. There are dozens of books similar to these two that continue to be distributed to minors as young as 10 years old in Virginia Beach Schools. If you are interested in helping to get those books removed from distribution to minors, please email us at info@studentsfirstva.com. Not Book Banning Thanks to all of the parents and citizens who have been fighting so hard to bring awareness to this issue. There has been an outcry by some people that this is book banning. However, that is just a red-herring because no one is calling for the books to be banned, only to be restricted against distribution to minors. These books are more obscene than Rated-R movies, yet they are still being given to children in schools. Last year, at a School Board meeting, a School Board member called for a full review to make sure obscene books were not being distributed to minors in school libraries, but the request was denied and the Superintendent deemed the book Gender Queer suitable for minors! It is too bad that it takes action by the courts to get the School Board to protect children. The porn peddling by the Virginia Beach School Board and Superintendent needs to end! Also, School Board candidates running in this year’s VA Beach School Board elections will be in attendance for a meet and greet. Please come out to meet them and help us Take Back The Virginia Beach School Board! 6 seats are up for re-election THIS November. |
