Absentee Voting in Virginia in 2020

Governor Northam of Virginia (VA) has extended the COVID-19 Stay-At-Home order through June 10th, which is after the June 9th primary election date, and after many communities (but not Virginia Beach) have elections in May. Because of this, anyone in VA who wishes may apply to vote via mail-in absentee ballot.

To apply for a mail-in absentee ballot in VA, you will need to be a registered voter in VA, and you will need your social security number and your driver’s license number.  Go to https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation and fill out the forms following the instructions. Fill out your info on page 1, on page 2 select “I want to apply for absentee voting”, select the appropriate options on page 3 and 4, on page 5 select the first option “I have a reason or condition that prevents me from going to the polls on Election Day”, on page 6 select the appropriate election (just one) and select “My disability or illness”, then fill out the rest of the pages as directed.

If you wish to apply for more than one election, repeat the process and select the other election(s).
